A Long Day in the Kitchen Results in the World’s Only Gel-Filled Anti-Fatigue Floor Mat

Robb McMahan developed the concept for GelPro Mats after his wife Lisa, an enthusiastic cook, spent a long Thanksgiving Day standing on the hard flooring in their kitchen. Like many kitchen floors, the McMahan’s floor was beautiful to look at, but uncomfortable to stand on for any length of time. By the time dinner was ready to be served, Lisa's legs and lower back hurt so much she hardly enjoyed the meal. What followed was a frustrating search for a comfortable, durable, stylish kitchen floor mat. The McMahans were surprised to find that no such product existed. Only flimsy foam kitchen floor mats that compress over time losing their already light support and ugly, commercial floor mats that are an eye-sore in the kitchen were available on the market.

An Engineer Sets His Sights on the Perfect Floor Mat

Robb, an engineer who had used his creativity in the past to develop everything from notebook computers to wheelchairs, decided he could solve the comfortable, durable, stylish floor mat dilemma himself. After countless late nights and hundreds of prototypes, Robb finally developed an innovative design utilizing soft, shock absorbing polymer gel as the cushioning element. Once the issue of comfort was resolved, Robb turned his attention to the top and bottom surface materials because the concepts of aesthetics and durability were of equal importance to Lisa as the comfort provided by the patented gel. The result was the creation of a number of top surface materials, all equally durable and stain-resistant, in a palette of colors and designs to complement any home’s décor and a bottom surface material with non-slip properties designed to anchor the mat in place.

Problem Solved: Comfort, Quality, and Style

When Robb finally looked up from his efforts, he had a unique, hefty, non-slipping, stain-resistant floor mat with a gel core that never compresses and top surface materials to match any home’s décor. Once Lisa and Robb's friends experienced their innovative gel mat, they insisted on having their own. Problem solved: Lisa had her beautiful, comfortable floor mat and Robb had turned a personal quest into a thriving industry. Their backs and feet have been living comfortably ever since and they hope yours will do the same.
